About Nelson Produce
Food has always been part of founders Paul and Maree Nelson's life.
Originally trained as a chef, Paul spent years working in hospitality, including operating & owning Caffe Salina in Bronte, Sydney to living and working in kitchens in Italy as well as cooking for high profile people. Having worked in kitchens and run a food business himself, he understands firsthand the challenges chefs face when sourcing quality ingredients.
For Maree, the produce industry has been part of her story from the beginning.
Growing up, she watched her father, Andrew and uncles Tom & Frank build a respected business within the Australian fresh produce industry. As one of the pioneers behind Tom & Franks in the 70’s, Andrew spent decades developing relationships with growers, suppliers and chefs across the country.
The markets, the early starts, the conversations around quality and service, they were all part of family life.

Why We Started Nelson ProduceAfter moving to regional New South Wales, one thing became obvious.
Regional chefs, retailers and food businesses often didn't have access to the same level of produce, service and market intelligence available in metropolitan areas. The talent was there. The demand was there. The access wasn't.
Nelson Produce was created to bridge that gap.
